Origins

A woman sitting on a beige couch, wearing a shimmering red dress with flared sleeves and black high heels. She is looking thoughtfully to the side with a decorative background featuring plants and artwork.

I am an author, designer, and creative entrepreneur with a lifelong appreciation for thoughtful design, personal expression, and the pursuit of knowledge.

The Scholar & Herself was born from a simple belief: style and intellect are not separate identities. The women who inspire this brand are curious, discerning, and continually evolving—whether their education came through formal institutions, lived experience, self-study, or a combination of all three.

My journey into design did not begin in a fashion house. It began with a desire to create garments that reflected the women I saw around me—and the woman I was becoming. As a self-taught designer and dressmaker, I have spent countless hours studying construction, tailoring, fit, and craftsmanship. Many of the pieces featured throughout our notebooks and collections began as ideas sketched, developed, sewn, and refined by my own hands.

In addition to my work in design, I am also an author. Writing has taught me the value of curiosity, observation, and careful attention to detail—qualities that influence every aspect of this brand. Whether on a page or in a garment, I am drawn to creating work that carries meaning and tells a story.

The Scholar & Herself is an expression of heritage, individuality, and thoughtful living. It is a celebration of women who value substance as much as style, and who understand that learning is not a destination but a lifelong practice.

Welcome to our study.
